South Africa updates plant-based label regs

The new rules spring from collaborations between the government and pbm companies.

South Africa’s Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development (DALRRD) recently released updated labelling regulations for plant-based meat analogue products. 

The new regulations do not allow for types of meat — like beef or pork — to be listed on plant-based alternative labels, but cuts and preparations — like "burger," "nugget" or "hot dog" — are fair game. …
