Shiru launches alt-fat ingredient

Ingredient company to launch its first product, a plant-based alt-fat product, this week.

Alameda, Calif.-based ingredient discovery company Shiru announced today its first commercial product, a plant protein-based fat ingredient called OleoPro.

Combining plant proteins and unsaturated plant-based oil, OleoPro holds its shape at room temperature and browns when cooked, according to Shiru.
