Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear on Monday announced that food and feed ingredients maker Meridian Biotech will open a new facility co-located with Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Ky.
Meridian will invest US$40 million in a new facility, which will convert bourbon distillery byproducts (called stillage) from Buffalo Trace into alternative proteins. Construction is expected to begin later this year.
