Kansas gov. signs law requiring meat-free disclaimer on analogues

Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly has signed into law a bill prohibiting the use of identifiable meat terms on the labels of meat analogues if they do not include qualifying language to indicate that the products do not contain meat.

The legislation, approved by the governor last week, also adds definitions for “meat analog” and “identifiable meat term" to the Kansas Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act.
